Geocache Description:

Bingo! It's an easy letter box hybrid if you are observant and can follow instruction.

1. Enter park.

2. Pass Park Entrace Station / Park Office.

3. Proceed forward, following signs to West Tower.

4. When reaching West Tower area, turn LEFT at the giant rock in front of the tower, and take the long set of stairs and trail in the direction of the campground (See photo of rock).

5. Rest on the Leapold Bench at the bottom of the trail. See photo of the bench in image gallery.

6. When the Flintrock trail intersects the trail to the campground, immediately start looking for sign to campground. This trail marker is also shown in the image gallery of this cache.

7. At this intersection / trail marker, turn and Start walking toward campground.

8. Look for a yellow State Park sign. About 5' up. Screwed into tree. (See photos for yellow sign).
State Park Sign reads "CLOSED AREA" "NO HUNTING" "NO TRAPPING "

9. From this sign, go approximately 36' at 212 degrees South West.

10. Cache contains a stamper and stamp, some SWAG and a logbook. As always, sign the log book 😀 to log the smile.

Warning. It is recommended that you cover your feet, legs and arms to do this cache. A hat might be helpful too. There are thorns, poison ivy, mosquitoes, and more. The landscape is uneven and there are many trip hazards. The D/T rating is that the yellow sign is hard to spot. It is within .25 miles of the bench in the photo. There is a steep hill in this area.

GPS. The coordinates for this cache were taken on 8/17/2023 using a Garmin GPS and also an iPhone 12 on T-Mobile service. Cell service was very weak. Best effort was used to get good coordinates. The coordinates were rechecked on the return visit to place to container and adjusted if necessary. Cacher’s using phone devices may want to plan to download the caches of interest for potential off-line access due to potential for weak cell signals.

DNR form 2500-118 (R 6/06) was completed and submitted via email to Kevin.Swenson@wisconsin.gov, Blue Mound State Park Property Manager, per the DNR nofification process.
