The eighth event of a CITO series around the Belconnen region. This CITO focuses on the management trails in Bruce Ridge, near the entrance off Belconnen Way. There has been rubbish dumped here for some time, and it would be a great service to the area if we can clear it away. Some pieces of rubbish are quite heavy/large, so please take care when trying to move them, particularly given the rocky/loose terrain.
Please take care when crossing nearby roads (particularly if you park on the Black Mountain side of Belconnen Way), and make use of marked crossings where possible.
The plan is to hold events on the first Saturday of each month, come rain, hail or shine. This event is being held a week earlier than the first Saturday of October, as I am not in Canberra then (there will still be an October event though!).
As someone who regularly walks, rides and jogs through this area, it is clear that this area can do with a community clean up event (as can the Greater Belconnen region more generally, so stay tuned for more CITO events). There is rubbish that has been dumped by nearby households. Any items of rubbish that are too large to go into a garbage bag will be transported away from the CITO site and disposed of in skip bins at my home address.
Garbage bags and nitrile gloves will be supplied should you wish to use them. Rubbish grabber/pick up tools are recommended if you have them. Sturdy shoes and sensible clothing are also recommended.
If you attended any of the previous CITO events in this series, then you may have a good idea of what to look for at the meeting point. If not, then look for the banana, and look up!
There will be a competition for FTF. Details are to be confirmed, but it will be banana themed! If you wish to participate, you will require a banana for this one!
