Geocache Description:

I only recently started getting involved in Geocaching with my 2 youngest kids. I love the idea and some of the places you visit while looking for the caches made me realise how nostalgia is what makes a cache special.

When I was at high school about 24 years ago now, we used to venture down to this area to sit at our "beach". This was before mobile phones were really the norm and logging on to the internet was slow and expensive. We used to walk down here and just chat. Most Fridays we'd be down here and, more ofthen than not, the rain would come down hard and we'd walk to the old paper mills (now completely demolished) at the end. I decided to visit down here to see if our beach was still there. At first, i thought nature had reclaimed it but was so excited to see it hasn't changed even slightly.

It's one of those places I don't beleive many people would ever visit normally and thanks to geocaching, they now have a reason to. There's a lot of interesting things down here if you continue the trail. Mavisbank House, the old abandoned mansion is further on (or what's left of it). We also came across what looks like parts of the old railway, repurposed into something else (we can't figure out what though). This is our first cache and hope you enjoy the trail.

NOTE: Ill go and check cache today. I may have made it a bit hard to find i was in a rush but ill double check
