Slottet byggdes 1530 ute på en holme. Slottet hade först bara en länga och allteftersom det blev nya godsägare så förändrades slottet till att sedan ha fyra längor, i dag är det en sluten fyrkant. Vid 1800-talets början ägdes slottet av Rutger Macklean som lät fylla igen vallgravarna så att slottet inte längre låg på en ö, vidare lät Macklean anlägga en park i engelsk stil. Slottet är numera ett museum.

The Castle were built 1530 out on a islet. The castle only had one row at the beginning, gradually and because there was new landowners the castle changed to have four rows, today it is a sealed square. At the beginning of the 1800s the castle were owned by Rutger Macklean who had the moat filled so the castle were not on a islet anymore, further he had builed a park in the English style. The Castle is a museum nowadays.
