The Court Hall is one of the Swale’s most important historical structures. It is a rare example of a purpose built mediaeval public building. It was erected in about 1450 AD, and is typical of Kentish timber-frame construction.
Museum is open April to September - Saturdays, 10am-4pm.
In addition to the building itself there are following museum displays:
Ground floor:
- Boards covering the history of Milton and the Court Hall plus other subjects of local interest.
- Stone crusher recovered from the old Union Workhouse and the original stone plaque recovered from one of Milton’s old Public Houses.
- A viewing platform allows to see into the prison cell.
First floor:
- Portreeve’s official weights and measures.
- Archaeological finds from the locality.
- Victoriana.
- Various items of local origin and interested.
- Portion of a mammoth tusk found in the Teynham area.
