-------------------------------------------------------

Depending on the weather and how busy The Galley is we will meet either

in the cafe or on the nearby picnic tables.

The Autumnal Equinox occurs when the Sun illuminates the Earth's Northern and Southern Hemispheres equally.

This year it occurs in Sussex on 23 Sept 2023 @ 06:50 BST (05:50 UTC)

which I thought was too early for an Event meet, so arranged for the afternoon.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The equinoxes are defined by Earth’s position in its orbit relative to the Sun.

They occur because the Earth’s axis of spin lies at an angle (23.5 degrees) to the plane on which it orbits the Sun.

At noon Sun will appear directly overhead at the Equator.

But here in Seaford it means for the next 3 months each day the hours of daylight will be shorter.
