The highest point in the Driftless area is West Blue Mound located in Blue Mound state park.
At 1,719 feet, this gorgeous view is also the highest point in southern Wisconsin and the entire Driftless Region. From the west observation tower of Blue Mound State Park, you get quite a view of some of the other Mounds in the area. You can also get an awe-inspiring view of the landscape to the north or look east and make out the faint outlines of our current state capitol in Madison.
Blue Mounds was named by French missionaries for the blueish hue of three nearby mounds.
At the posted coordinates you will find a fabulous rock formation, just one of many in the park.
