Ramot (רָמוֹת ,lit. Heights), also known as Ramot Alon (רמות אלון, lit. "Alon Heights"), is a Jerusalem neighborhood established in 1974 and named after the biblical city of Rama(h), where the Prophet Samuel lived and was brought for burial. The Tomb of Samuel is located 1.3 kilometers north of Ramot. One tradition associates biblical Rama with one of the highest peaks of the Judean Hills, reaching 885 meters above sea level. After the death of Yigal Allon in 1980, the neighborhood was officially renamed for him to Ramot Alon.
