Geocache Description:

You will hike the Foothills Trail and the Chattooga Trail where you will get two waterfalls for the price of one. You will find the 25-foot stack of Pigpen Falls and the two-tiered, 80-foot Licklog Falls much prettier than their names imply.

The cache is hidden off the Chattooga Trail between the locations of Pigpen Falls and Licklog Falls. These two falls are among five waterfalls you could visit by hiking the entire 16.7 Chattoga Trail in the Sumter National Forest. Directions to the cache area are from Walhalla, SC. Drive northwest on SC 28 for 8.4 miles and bear right (north) onto SC 107. Drive 3.1 miles and turn left (west) onto Village Creek Road, just past the entrance to Oconee State Park. Drive 1.7 miles and turn right onto Nicholson Ford Road (FS 775), which is gravel. Drive 2.3 miles to a parking area. The correct parking area will be 0.5 mile past the parking area for overnight users of the Foothills Trail (go past a private drive on the left and bear right at the next private drive). From the parking area, access the Foothills Trail at the northwest corner of the lot by the information board. Hike west on the Foothills Trail (white blaze) for 0.5 mile and turn left onto the Chattooga Trail. Pigpen Falls will be 0.2 mile and Licklog Falls will be another 0.2 miles after crossing the footbridge. The cache is a one gallon Rubbermaid jar. The original contents of the cache are: - three funtion light - Rope watch - ratchet screwdriver set - travel sewing kit - grip clip watch - four piece manicure set - bracelet - mini etch a sketch Also, there is a homemade First Finder's refrigerator magnet which goes to the first finder of the cache. I've included a log book with pen and pencil for finders to record their visit. If the cache is in need of some maintenance, please let me know through your computer logs or send me an e-mail by clicking on my GeoCache profile. If the coordinates seem to be off, let me know. I let my GPS unit average for ten minutes before settling on these coordinates. However, satellite reception can be very poor at times in this gorge. Thank you for re-concealing the cache so that no part is visible to hikers or hunters. And, above all else, enjoy the beautiful South Carolina outdoors.
