Sitting in the woods hidden away in the shadows of the Carrabassett Valley, Reed Brook Falls can be found. Many people have traveled right past this beautiful trail without knowing it ever existed. We hope you lace up your hiking boots for this one because this is a unique trail with a lot of rewards and a lot of hidden treasures along the way. Walk along the rocks and take in the views this is a waterfall unlike any other that you will see in Maine.
Parking is available in a lot near the Carrabassett Veterinary and Pet Resort. You will know you have arrived there when you are greeted by a big brightly colored and hand-painted sign. These hand-painted signs are throughout the trail and are an awesome addition to the hike. Some of the signs are informative, others tell of rules, and some of them are just fun and cute. Make sure to keep an eye out as you go.
This is a 1.1 mile out-and-back trail with a 160 foot elevation gain. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 30 minutes to complete. This trail is great for hiking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. Most of the trail is relatively flat at first and near the end gets steeper but not by much. Most people should be able to do this hike with no problem at all.
The brook will babble and roar depending on the time of the year but we suggest you go in the Spring. When most of the snow has melted and after a rain, it will make this stream and the waterfall at the end gorgeous.
When you reach Reed Brook Falls, also known as Jericho Steps, you will be blown away.
I hope you enjoy. Please be stealthy when muggles are around and hide the Ammo Box back the same way or better than you found it. I hope this cache is here as long as the water falls.
Please feel free to post your photos of your adventure along the way.
