Slovenska cesta

Slovenska cesta je ena izmed glavnih in najbolj znanih ulic v Ljubljani. Predstavlja osrednjo prometnico in trgovsko žilo mesta.

Koncept kioska K67 so patentirali leta 1967.

Slovenska cesta is one of the main and most famous streets in Ljubljana. It represents the central artery and commercial vein of the city. Located in the city center, it connects the northern outer parts of the city with the center and the southern part of the city.

During the Austro-Hungarian era, it was known as Hauptstrasse (Main Street). After World War II, it was named after Josip Broz Tito, the leader of the SFR Yugoslavia. Following Slovenia's independence and the breakup of Yugoslavia, in 1991 the street was restructured and divided into Dunajska and Slovenska cesta.

Today, Slovenska cesta is considered one of the most dynamic traffic routes in Ljubljana. With the aim of enhancing the urban experience, its central part was redesigned in 2015 for pedestrians, cyclists, and city buses, which reduced motor traffic. Slovenska cesta is home to numerous shops, restaurants, cafes, and office buildings, making it one of the liveliest streets in the city.

K67 KIOSK

The K67 Kiosk is a modular kiosk concept designed in 1966 by Slovenian architect and industrial designer Saša Janez Mächtig. The K67 Kiosk is also included in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Its design is based on assembled modules made of reinforced polyester, which, when connected, can be used as individual units or can be interconnected, expanding as needed. These kiosks had various purposes: they were used to sell newspapers, tickets, for lotteries, collecting parking fees, as market stalls selling fruit or vegetables, for fast food outlets, as guardhouses in companies, and more. They come in different color combinations, but the basic is red. The modular design of the units allows the K67 to adapt to almost any location. The K67 kiosk concept was patented in 1967. In 1968, the K67 was ready for mass production, manufactured by the factory Imgrad in Ljutomer. By the late 1990s, around 7,500 K67 modules had been sold not only in all republics of the former Yugoslavia but also in other Eastern European countries, the former Soviet Union, and even to other continents (e.g., the USA, Canada, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Australia, Japan, and New Zealand). Production of the kiosk in Slovenia then ceased due to significant changes in the economic system during the transition. In front of the administrative building of the Delo publishing house in Ljubljana, a renovated K67 kiosk has stood since 2022.
