Welcome to the Sidney Airport. the airfield opened in febnuary of 1940. the name of the field is named after the gentleman who helped bring it to be. He worked for the Bendix Corp serospace division of Scintilla ased out of NYC. He approached the town about iit with thr fact that it would be approriate to have a airport therww. in 1927 he joined the Chamber of Commerce. He sated the reason it surved of the plant was the good labor situation and good railroad facilities in 1957 two years before his death at a dinner, they honored him by naming the airport after him. And still named after him to this day. He also helped establish the Golf course in Sidney and also promotted better housing. He passed in December of 57. at his funeral was over 230 people. He did a great service for Sidney while he was alive.. The orignal plant is now mostly a solar farm, few builldings in back of property. The plant gates still stand. They have moved it to the other side of the river. You might get to see a lifenet helicopter land or take off. They do have a base here. or on approach or leaving cache you might see it outside sitting there.
