The Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Fairfield is a nature center and wildlife sanctuary in the Greenfield Hill area of Fairfield, CT. The center maintains the 152-acre Roy and Margot Larsen Wildlife Sanctuary with seven miles of trails and boardwalks, including the Chiboucas wheelchair-accessible trail for the disabled. Open from dawn to dusk, the sanctuary is free to explore, though a donation is encouraged.
This cache is located near the intersection of Country Lane and Oxcart Trail in the Larsen Wildlife Sanctuary. Enjoy a nice hike on generally level terrain, through a mixed hardwood forest with shrub habitat, ponds and wetlands. If you encounter a rabbit at Larsen in shrubby areas far from the main buildings, there's a good chance you will have seen the rare New England cottontail rabbit.
