Geocache Description:

Just off Hwy - US 2 -- the most conspicuous building close to the highway is the large school building, Hartline School.  The school was built in 1922 and was used as a school through 2008.  After closing, the building was placed on the Washington Historical Register by the Governor's Advisory Council on Historical Preservation.

The local population still loves their old building and uses it for various community events and activities.  There is a large auditorium inside on the upper floor.  Visitors are welcome to come in and look around on Thursday thru Saturday (10-4) during their "mall" hours.  There is usually some music playing and there is a lot to see and look around at . . . It definitely still has that old school smell and feeling to it.

If you ask for a building tour, they'll happily oblige.  They're even pet friendly.  I found the place just by chance while out geocaching.

In the early years the school had as few as four graduates per year.  Then during their "boom" years as many as twenty-five or so.  Many of their class pictures are hanging on the walls inside the school.  Different rooms inside are set up for varying kinds of activities.

The cache is a micro and is outside of the building in an easy to spot location.  Cache is placed wiith permission from the building manager (Cindy).
