SCRUB CLEARANCE TO MAINTAIN FLOOD FLOW ON ALNEY ISLAND
Parking: There is parking at the CITO site (parking area coordinates). Please note that you can only access the site from the dual-carriageway going towards Over roundabout, see the trailhead waypoint for access. The metal barrier will be open at the start time to allow access down the lane.
If you are arriving after the start time and the barrier is closed, please wait at the pull-in off the dual carriageway and send me a message via geocaching. I will come and let you in.
Where: Meet by the metal security barrier at the trailhead waypoint at 09:30, we will direct you down the lane to the parking area. Or meet us near the published coordinates if arriving by bike or on foot. If you arrive after the start time and we have moved on, please message me via Geocaching app.
What: We will be continuing work carried out during previous CITOs to help maintain flood flow on this part of the Island, by clearing scrub, saplings and overhanging branches from along the edges of the cycle path.
How: The Countryside Ranger will be there providing guidance. We ask you to bring your own work gloves and if you wish to use your own tools (shears, loppers, saw) then please do bring them along. Don't worry if you don't have any tools as the ranger will have a supply.
Health and Safety: The session and will be covered by council insurance as long as you are working under the Countryside Ranger's instruction.
Please bring water and a hot drink/snack for breaktime. Homemade cake will be provided 🙂
