Kokoonnumme Helsingin talvipuutarhan pihalle 16.12.2023 klo 10:00-10:30. Miittisarjan 16. luukun takaa paljastuu mahdollisuus tulla tapaamaan ja tutustumaan muihin geokätköilijöihin sekä talvipuutarhan jouluun.
Welcome to open the 16. flap of the Advent Calendar event series! Let's gather to Helsinki winter garden 16.12.2023 at 10 am to 10.30 am. The 16. flap of the event series will reveal a possibility to come and meet other geocachers and possibly see the winter garden's christmas.
Kukat kuuluvat monen jouluun. Noin 80 prosenttia suomalaisista ostaa joulukukkia itselleen tai lahjaksi. Joulutähti, hyasintti, tulppaani ja ritarinkukka (vanhalta nimeltään amaryllis) ovat joulun suosikkikukkia vuodesta toiseen.
Joulukukat yleistyvät suomalaisissa kodeissa 1900-luvulla. Sipulikasveista, kuten hyasintista ja tulppaanista, tuli talvikukkia jo 1800-luvulla. Sipulikasvit sopivat Suomen talveen, koska ne eivät tarvitse paljon valoa ja ne kukkivat kylmässäkin ilmassa. Joulutähdestä tuli suosittu 1960-luvulla.
Talvipuutarha on kaikille avoin kasvikeidas Töölönlahden pohjoispuolella. Vuonna 1893 ovensa yleisölle avanneeseen puutarhaan on sen perustamisesta lähtien päässyt vierailemaan ilman pääsymaksua.
Vehreä Talvipuutarha ilahduttaa kävijöitä ympäri vuoden, ja vaihtelua kukkaloistoon tuovat sesonkien mukaan kukkivat kasvit. Joulun ajan kukkijoita ovat muun muassa joulutähdet, atsaleat ja amaryllikset. Pääsiäisenä kukkaan taas puhkeavat pääsiäisliljat ja tulppaanit.
Historiallisessa kasvien kodissa on yli 200 erilaista kasvia, jotka kukoistavat kolmessa huoneessa: Kaktushuoneessa, Palmuhuoneessa ja Länsisiivessä. Kasveista vanhin on yli 130-vuotias kameliapuu.
Talvipuutarha, sen edessä aukeava ruusutarha ja Talvipuutarhan takana oleva kasvien tuotantoalue muodostavat yhdessä Kaupunginpuutarhan. Tuotantoalue on yleisöltä suljettu. Talvipuutarhassa ei ole kahvilaa.
Flowers are part of many people's Christmas. Around 80% of Finns buy Christmas flowers for themselves or as gifts. Poinsettias, hyacinths, tulips and knight's wreaths (formerly known as amaryllis) are Christmas favourites year after year.
Christmas flowers became more common in Finnish homes in the 20th century. Bulbous plants such as hyacinth and tulip became winter flowers as early as the 19th century. Bulbous plants are suitable for Finnish winters because they do not need much light and they bloom even in cold weather. The poinsettia became popular in the 1960s.
The Winter Garden is a plant oasis open to all north of Töölönlahti Bay. Since its establishment in 1893, the garden has been open to the public free of charge.
The lush Winter Garden brings joy to visitors all year round, and seasonal flowering plants add variety to the floral splendour. At Christmas time, you can witness the blooming of the poinsettia, azalea and belladonna-lily. Easter is the time for wild daffodils and tulips to burst into flowers.
This historic house of plants features more than 200 different plants that flourish in three rooms: the Cactus Room, the Palm Room and the Western Wing. The oldest plant is a camellia tree that is over 130 years old.
The Winter Garden, the Rose Garden in front of it and the plant production area behind the Winter Garden together form the City Garden. The plant production area is not open to the public. There is no café in the Winter Garden.
Tämä tapahtuma on osa geokätköilijöiden miitti-Joulukalenteria. Koska joulukuu tuntuu olevan välillä kovinkin kiireistä aikaa, niin nyt on hyvä aika pysähtyä ja hengähtää rupattelemaan hetkiseksi geokolleegojen kanssa. Tapahtumia järjestetään ympäri pääkaupunkiseutua, joten toivomme, että mahdollisimman monella on mahdollisuus osallistua johonkin järjestetyistä tapahtumista.
This event is part of the geocachers event Advent Calendar. Because December seems to be a somewhat busy time for everyone, we wanted to arrange for everyone some time to stop and take a break to chat with your fellow geocachers. The events are held all around the Helsinki metropolitan area so we hope that everyone who’s interested has a chance to join us at some point.
