Geocache Description:

Back on Earth Day 2022 I placed a cache called 'Got Any Grapes?' that ended-up having an interesting run as a swag-friendly 'small' container. But after it went missing (a little over a year in) I felt the urge to mix things up a bit. So in the interest of offering fresh produce, I've positioned a downsized version in a different hide-style fairly close to the original spot.

But enough backstory ... about the location ...

I've always loved Pullen Park, since before I can even remember. There are a bunch 🍇 of fun things to do here, I mean, besides geocaching 🙂

Riding the miniature reproduction train is definitely a cool experience and something of a multi-generational family tradition for me. My mom used to tell me how the train only ran around the playground back when she was a little girl, so I feel fortunate to have gotten the grand tour of the entire park whenever I rode the rails as a kid.

And of course I've made good and sure my own younglings have plenty of fond childhood memories of chugging along in the Pullen Park Choo Choo! I still feel a glimmer of childlike excitement whenever I hear Little Huntington's whistle sing!

We've also enjoyed many a ride on the Gustave A. Dentzel Carousel ... although I really miss the days when it still sported an open-air shelter.

Several years ago, Raleigh Parks & Recreation decided to build an enclosed housing for it so as to allow the carousel to be an all-season (controlled environment) attraction, as well as to provide more protection from the elements.

But that may also have something to do with this beloved landmark being listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Either way, it's still really special, particularly if you're lucky enough to take a spin while the Wurlitzer Band Organ is playing 🎶🎠

When my daughter was very young, I used to ask her which carousel animal she wanted to ride, and she almost always chose the giant duck! Well, it was actually an ostrich, but that's what it looked like to her because she just loved ducks SO much!

Between my daughter's endearing misnomer and the fact that I often see lots of waterfowl out here at Lake Howell, I was reminded of a funny animated music video my kids showed me about a cheeky little duck who was sort of peculiar about his snacks.

And oh my gosh, it's catchy!

So these days, whenever I see a mischievous-looking mallard in a park, I often get this familiar feeling that it might be about to waddle up to me and ask if I've got any grapes 🦆 ... and then the tune gets stuck on repeat!

So you know how they say ... if you can't get a song out of your head, you should try singing it out loud. Welp, that's never worked for me so I decided to make a cache about it instead ... just to share the laughter and maybe even get a silly song stuck in your head too 😄🎶

In keeping with the theme of the title, the new container bears a striking resemblance to Moon Drops or Sweet Sapphires, take your ... pick 🍇

Also, the hide was placed under the light of a Full Hunter Moon! When I was telling my son about this redux, he mentioned that one of his favorite variety of grapes is the Hunt Muscadine, so there's yet another lunar allusion ripened to fruition!

It can get pretty busy out here at Pullen Park but hopefully this specific spot will be out-of-the-way enough to effectively elude all those curious muggles.

I sure hope you have a chance to visit and explore the grounds while you're here, as the primary purpose of this cache is to lead you to discover (or enjoy all over again) this delightful oasis which is Pullen Park! And of course, provide you with another smiley ... or maybe even your very first 😃

Incidentally, the container was a prize from Kitty Cache 1 (GCA8KGH), so thanks to Megatron086 for providing the hardware. Glad to finally be putting it to good use!

Please remember to bring your own scribble stick 🖊 so you can sign your very awesome geoname, as this is a log-only hide. Also, please try not to drop it 😬 Thanks!

Have fun and happy quacking ... uh, I mean caching 💛🦆
