No, no, just kidding! There is absolutely NO fishing allowed here! BUT, if you want to SEE some fish, stop by here in September, and you will see the creek is red & green with thousands of spawning Kokanee salmon! It is a sight to behold! I try to come here every September to see them. It still amazes me. There are now some very nice interpretive signs and a large parking lot. Much improved from days gone by.
Kokanee are a land-locked salmon. Kokanee spend most of their lives a silvery-blue color traveling in schools around the deepest parts of the lake. This has earned them the nickname "Blue backs". After a few years, they reach maturity and begin to change color and shape to prepare for a one-way trip into tributaries to spawn. That’s when they morph into the brilliant red and green colors you can see in Trestle Creek through the end of the Sept. and early into Oct.
Make sure you sign the actual micro log. PLEASE be wary of muggles, as this is a very popular place!
