Join us on Wednesday 29th November 2023 Planting a gingko tree on the reserve.
Gingko trees can survive 3500 years! The tree will be planted on The Mound as a specimen tree, happily watching over the reserve for many years to come. After planting the tree we will be caring for newly planted trees in Cliff's Wood.
Parking: Suggested parking is in the car park at the provided coords, there is a footbridge to take you over to Horsbere Brook Reserve. Or if there is space you can park by the gates leading in to the Reserve (alternative parking).
Where: Meet by the main gates at 09:30 (alternative parking coords) or after that time find us on The Mound (event coordinates). After planting the gingko tree we will move on to the trailhead Cliff's Wood. This is adjacent to the gingko planting area. See waypoint for kissing gate access from the main track.
What: Join us planting a gingko tree and caring for saplings in Cliff's Wood which were planted as part of the Queen's Green Canopy project.
How: The Countryside Ranger will be there providing guidance. We ask you to please bring your own work gloves and if you wish to bring your own tools (shears) please do so. Don't worry if you don't have tools as the Ranger will have a supply.
Health and Safety: The CITO session will be covered by Council insurance as long as you are working under the Countryside Ranger's instruction.
