Geocache Description:

Edges Advent Calendar will be released daily throughout December, to bring some Christmas cheer to our Caching buddy, made and placed by the local caching community.

This is NOT at the listed coordinates.

You need to find the temperature in degrees needed to form a triangular snowflake. To keep it simple, please ignore the minus, treat the number as a positive. This will give you the direction in degrees to the final location from the coordinates.

You then need to find how many miles it is from Manchester to the North Pole, Then simply calculate how many complete marathons you would need to run (walk/crawl) to cover this distance (ignore any decimal places). This can be an aim to get rid of that extra weight after Christmas Dinner. The number you end up with is the distance in metres from the icon to the final location.

Because this is a letterbox and not a puzzle, you will find the information you need on this page. However, you will need to do the mathematics!

Merry Christmas All.

A snowflake is a single ice crystal that has achieved a sufficient size, and may have amalgamated with others, which falls through the Earth's atmosphere as snow. Each flake nucleates around a tiny particle in supersaturated air masses by attracting supercooled cloud water droplets, which freeze and accrete in crystal form. Complex shapes emerge as the flake moves through differing temperature and humidity zones in the atmosphere, such that individual snowflakes differ in detail from one another, but may be categorized in eight broad classifications and at least 80 individual variants. The shape of the snowflake is determined broadly by the temperature and humidity at which it is formed. Rarely, at a temperature of around −2 °C, snowflakes can form in threefold symmetry — triangular snowflakes. Most snow particles are irregular in form, despite their common depiction as symmetrical. Another interesting fact you might enjoy reading is that if you post your letter for Santa Claus in Manchester, it has to travel an amazing 2,523 miles to reach the North Pole!
