Daguan Wetland Park extends to the north from this cache, neighboring the Tianhe Software Park (a much-improved iteration compared to the Tianhe Gongyuan area software park) and across from a huge cemetary and bus depot. This park serves as a pilot for Guangzhou's "sponge city" initiative, which aims to create an urban rainwater wetland corridor and sunken green spaces to manage and utilize rainwater effectively. Though advertised as a kind of nature-lover's paradise, as usual the real appeal lies elsewhere, in this case in the combination and juxtaposition of modern (and some older) new office parks with diverse ground floor activities, a tent-lover's grassy area, and all interconnected with publicly accessible and winding walkways.
