Geocache Description:

This shrine is located next to the former Toyoura Town Hall. According to the "Shrine Description Book" (dated 1885), it is "Unranked Shrine Shinmei-gu Shrine in Aza-higashi-mura, Otoji-mura, Kitakanbara-gun". The date of establishment is unknown. According to legend, in 1446, when the lord of Iino Castle, Kurosaki Keihan- Fujiwara no Katsumune, was on patrol, he became ill, but rested on the shrine grounds and prayed to the deity, and was healed. After that, the shrine was dedicated every year and became a major shrine in the surrounding area. The shrine was originally Shinmei-gu Shrine (history unknown), but in 1907 (Meiji 39), it was merged with Inadahime Shrine in Nishide, Oyamagiha Shrine in Yamanokamikoshi, Hachimangu Shrine in Hachimankoshi, and Suwa Shrine in Ezoe and rebuilt, taking the name of the area as the shrine name. --------------------------------------- The city of Shibata offers activities to help children develop a love of their hometown through learning about the history, culture, nature, industry, and other aspects of their hometown as well as the challenges it faces. Through various experiences, we aim to nurture a "love for one's hometown" and a "sense of pride in one's hometown. At Toyoura Elementary School, students learned about the charms of the Toyoura area and the connection between the thoughts and wishes of the people and their own, and created "Shin Toyoura Karuta". The Shin Toyoura Karuta, which the children created by interacting with local residents and experiencing the charms of the Toyoura area, expresses the children's wish to "restore the vitality of the community”. ※Since some of the reading cards include the names of commercial facilities, etc., we will not introduce the reading cards.
