The Village School Building is a World War One era school and community building, and is one of the most historically significant buildings in North Alabama. The Building is the heart of the Nitrate Village One neighborhood, This village school was and is a community center. It was used as a school from 1917 to the mid 1990's. It is being preserved and refurbished
The school is locked most of the time, and is available for events. On the third Saturday of each month volunteers come to work on the restoration. They are happy to show you around. If you are interested in early 20th century architecture, you might recognize the Craftsman style.
The cache is simple park-and-gab. Park on the roadway in front - even on the "sidewalk". The School Association has given Geocaching premission to set a cache here.
