Geocache Description:

** NO CACHING DUSK to DAWN **

Old White Church was founded circa 1742, founded as a mission church by a priest who came across the Susquehanna River. It was also the "Mother Church" of four Episcopal churches of the area - St. John's Episcopal - Carlisle (c1752), Christ Episcopal Church (c1828) at York Springs, and both St. John the Baptist and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of York in York county. The church also shared the building with a Lutheran congregation for a period of about 75 years.

Of the exisiting markers some are unreadable, some in German and some have been shamefully vandalized. In addition to the exisitng markers, there are also approx. 100 field stones without markings.

The oldest readable marker I found was from 1748: "Here Lys - Ye Body of William Field - Who Deceased - March Ye 30th - 1748 Aged 50 Years".

The cemetery is kept up by Prince of Peace Parish in Gettysburg.

Please be respectful taking only photos and leaving only footprints. Absolutely NO NIGHT CACHING.
