Happy Leap Day! I hope everyone has a fun day and gets plenty of caching done. This day only happens once every 4 years, or once every 1,461 days. There will be a raffle to give away geocaching related items, it will likely happen between 8-8:15. 

 

Fun Facts about Leap Day:

“Leapling” and “Leaper” are both terms for someone born on February 29.

“Leap Year” is also known as “Intercalary Year” and “Bissextile Year”

Irish and English tradition make it so women can only propose marriage in leap years.

Finnish tradition makes it so if a man refuses a woman’s proposal on leap day, he shall purchase the necessary fabrics for a skirt.

La Bougie du Sapeur is a satirical newspaper in France that is only published on Leap Day, and has been so since 1980.

In Greece, marriage in a leap year is considered unlucky to the point where 20% of couples will specifically plan their wedding to avoid getting married in a leap year.

Ever since February 1988, the leapling birthday club has existed in the self proclaimed “leap year capital of the world” in Anthony Texas.

The “Leap Year Bug” or “Leap Year Problem” is an issue in both digital and non digital documentation and equations that fail to identify leap years as such which can cause errors in calculations and such.
