Detective Marley was killing time, finishing his Christmas Eve shift with some monotonous filing. He looked outside at the thick settled snow and noticed it just kept on coming. He thought it was be just typical if he got stuck in the snow on his way home for Christmas.
As he was finishing up, filing away his last few documents, he disturbed a dusty old case file and it fell down, opening up on the table in the middle of the room.
The detective looked over what little evidence remained in the old file. He had no knowledge of the case and was a little shocked by the contents. Although every criminal gets what's coming to them he couldn't help but sympathise in this instance. That sure is one large hospital bill he thought to himself, must have messed with the wrong guys to get that kind of beating.
The snowfall reminded the detective he needed a shovel to clear the snow at home. He'll borrow one from his old man who might recall this case as it happened in his neighbourhood. After replacing the file, Detective Marley grabbed his coat and headed out into the Christmas Eve snow.
