This cache is near the Pinnacles Hut which is the second most popular hut in NZ, in terms of person-nights spent there. It has an 80-bunk capacity and must be booked in advance, especailly in the summer months. The cache itself is close to the helicopter landing site and one of the only places with cell phone coverage in this beautiful aea. We recommend climbing the Pinnacles themselves at surise or sunset. The walk from the car park at the end of the Kauaeranga Valley roadway is estimated to take 3 hours and 40 minutes to the summit of the Pinnacles. However, this estimate is based on averages. As it is an extremely popular hike, the time estimates signposted around the track are quite conservative. If you have a high level of fitness, expect to climb it in 2.5-3 hours one way.
