This is the eighth Calderdale-based pub event which myself and dibby3 have hosted - we hope this will become a regular series of events.
We are returning to one of my favourite pubs - we will be at The Three Pigeons from 7pm on Wednesday 24th January. The event is scheduled to run until 8pm, but there is every chance we will stay later than that - as long as I am in the pub, the logbook will be open.
The Three Pigeons is an Ossett Brewery pub and serves a good selection of beers and other drinks. They do not serve food (other than crisps and similar snacks). Dogs are welcome.
On-street parking is available nearby - please check signs for details regarding pay and display. The pub is a few minutes walk from Halifax railway station.
A room has been reserved for us - go through the door, pass the bar and head to the back of the pub via the corridor - we will be in the room straight in front of you. All cachers are welcome - new and existing - if you are not sure who to look for, ask staff for the reservation for Fiona.
The Three Pigeons is among the best-surviving Art Deco pub interiors in Britain and one of only three left in the country. Originally built as a Websters pub on the grounds of an older pub which stood before it. The award-winning venue is a sensitively restored Grade II listed building dating from 1932. The pub is listed in the English Heritage National Directory of Protected Pub Interiors and Ossett has received conservation awards for the restoration work carried out on the pub.
From an aesthetic perspective the Three Pigeons offers pub-goers a rather unique environment not often seen elsewhere. The small intimate rooms in this warm venue make for a cosy boozer full of local charm and banter. The original interior is from a charming era in history where geometric lines and shapes were in architectural vogue but the modern cask and craft beers provide a great contrast. Trackables - any which fit into a small tupperware box (with the lid on) are more than welcome. If you wish to bring anything larger, you are responsible for passing it along or taking it back if no-one is willing.
