It's January and time again to gather in from the cold. Come to share stories, swap trackables, say "hi" to old friends and meet new ones. The event lasts from 11 AM to 1 PM, plenty of time to eat (if you want) or just to visit.
We'll pass around some Valentines for the residents at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, Kentucky. Anyone who would like can write a message on the cards before we deliver them the following week.
As we have at past Share the Love events, we will also collect any donations you would like to send to the Veterans. Donations are not required for logging attendence at the event.
Carol (of KyTravelers) spoke to the Activities Director and has been told that they are NOT ACCEPTING BIRDSEED at this time, but they would appreciate other donations. They would like individually wrapped snack cakes, sugarfree candy, chocolate, chocolate and peanut butter, and chocolate and caramel candybars - but nothing which is hard to chew or has nuts. They would like 8-ounce, screw-top soft drinks. White art canvases, tempra paint, sketch pads, decoupage sealer, and sponge brushes were requested. They could also use white-faced wall clocks, universal remotes, batteries (AA, AAA), sound machines, or weighted blankets. They would also enjoy CD's that you might have and not be using - classic country, gospel, jazz and rock. I'll update other donation ideas in announcements as they are sent to us.
The event is at a new location - Bar B Que Shack at 4687 Pembroke Road, Hopkinsville, KY. If you're coming from Hopkinsville, take Hwy 41/Pembroke Road toward Pembroke. The restaurant is on the right side of the road with the parking lot turn-in just past the water tower. If you're coming from I-24, take exit 89 and go north on Hwy 115. Turn left on Hwy 41 in Pembroke. The restuarant will be on the left in about 4 miles.
