Copper is an element essential to life, and with this in mind, I have created a series of caches featuring wildlife that have 'copper' in their names and that all truly delight me.
The tenth delight is the Coppersmith Barbet.
This delight is a bird which is actually not named for its color but for the sound it makes, a metronomic call that sounds similar to a coppersmith striking sheets of copper metal with a hammer. Sometimes it is just called coppersmith. It is an Asian barbet described as green with crimson red on its head and throat as well as yellow cheeks. This bird lives on the Indian subcontinent and in parts of southeast Asia.
The coppersmith is primarily a fruit eater but will sometimes eat insects, esp. winged termites. It inhabits gardens, groves and sparse woodland. Habitats with dead wood are important because it carves out holes inside trees to build its nest.

Note 1 - Most if not all caches in this series can be reached from the trail. None are more than one step off the trail.
Note 2 - As always when I place caches in this park, I have provided very specific hints since this gps readings here can be very jumpy.
