Camouflage in the Northwest
I used to be dragged around with mc3cats looking
for caches. It was so boring! (fortunately, I would have a book with
me). Then I started looking at the different kinds of cache containers.
Different cans, tubes, tubs and boxes all hidden for others to find.
And There Was Camouflage! (or as I like to
say “hidden in plain sight”. The one that
really grabbed my attention was a cache done by an old cacher hidden in
downtown Kent. It was a cache hidden on a phone pole. It was a flyer
posted amongst other flyers and it was the cache! Wow! How cool was
that? And ever since then my thoughts burst with different ideas of
camouflage. So many ideas and so few places to hide. I think the
Northwest with its varied landscapes holds so many possibilities. Things
like rocks, blades of grass, stumps, magnetic things like flats (love
them!), stripes, bolts or switch plates all to name a few. Once I even
made a fake fly and an owl in a nest! The list of creative possibilities
is endless. If you like the kind of caches where you jump out near a
guardrail, grab the magnetic key hide or love big ammo containers, my
caches are not for you. So many people look a little and then log DNF-
when really the cache is safely tucked where it should be all snug
waiting for the cacher to think outside the box. Enjoy! (and think like
a mamacat) 😼
The listed coordinates brings
