Geo-U is intended as an ongoing series of events held specifically to teach and explore specific features, functions and techniques of geocaching. The instruction is meant to be semi-formal, taught primarily by local cachers with a good understanding of the topic. Each class/event will have one or more specific topics to be covered. Time permitting after the class(es), other questions may be fielded. Geo-U was conceived on 1/1/2024 due to continuing requests for classes over various topics.
Examples of topics:
- The web site and phone apps
- Notifications, List, Waypoints
- GPS
- General usage, Loading caches
- 3rd party tools
- Project-GC, GSAK, Geocaching toolbox
The two (2) planned topics for this event:
APP-100 Introduction to Geocaching Apps
- This will be a basic overview of popular phone apps.
- 4 GeoCaching apps will be discussed.
- These apps are for one or both of the main phone platforms.
APP-110 Offline Phone Caching
- How offline geocaching works in various apps.
- A basic tutorial on how to save one or more caches to your phone.
- How to save an entire “List” of geocaches to your phone.
Please, bring your phone a laptop if you have one. Wi-Fi is available, and you can put what is talked about into practice with assistance at hand.
