This cache replaces one I placed here many years ago but went missing in this popular hiking destination. This is too interesting of a spot to leave without a cache.
The hike is not difficult, but it is long. It is named for the chimney that still stands at the old blast furnace foundation. A mountain bike may make the trek go faster, but absolutely no motorized vehicles are allowed past the parking lot. This is because the land is owned by the Duncannon Borough Watershed. There may be other places to park and hike in, but these may require you to cross private property. Please stick to the parking coordinates provided. If you park in the designated lot, you will have a nice dirt/gravel packed road the whole way to the cache without having to bushwhack.
Nearby is a nice bubbling spring if you brought a thirsty pup on your trek.
If you utilize the vent to make the container easier to open, please remember to tighten it back up when you are done.
