המטמון נמצא במדרון עם צמחיה טבעית מעל בית הכנסת "שער השמיים" בואדי בוסתניה (ואדי האסבסטונים). במדרון נשמרה צמחית בתה (שיחים נמוכים) אופינית על גבי תצורת עמינדב הדולומטית. אפשר למצוא כאן אזוב מצוי, קידה שעירה, קורנית מקורקפת, וכמה עצי שקד. באביב גם פורחות כלניות.
בית הכנסת הוא השריד האחרון למעברת ואדי האסבסטונים שהחיים בה מתוארים בין היתר בספרים של חיים סבתו. המעברה פונתה סופית רק בשנת 1984.
The cache is located on a hill slope with natural vegetation above the synagogue "Shaar HaShamiyim" in Wadi Bustania (Wadi Asbestonim). On the slope, there is a typical Mediterranean Bata (low shrubs) vegetation on the Dolomitic Amindav formation. One can find two of the three Za'atar species: Biblical hysop (Origanum syriacum) and Conehead thyme (Coridothymus capitatus), as well as spiny broom shrubs and some almond trees. During the spring season, anemones are blooming.
The synagogue is the last building left of the Ma'abaarat Wadi Asbestonim, described in the books of Haim Sabato. The Ma'abara was finally evacuated only in 1984.
