Geocache Description:

The Ava Rail Bridge was built in the mid 1920s and serves the Hutt Line passenger services as well as goods trains to the Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay.  It's also has a footpath and is a favourite crossing point for walkers doing a loop with Ewen Bridge the other crossing point.  Most importantly it's a great spot to trainspot the occassional steam service that passes by on holidays.  Being quite low at the abutments it's also perhaps the closest you will ever get to a moving train whilst being completely safe.

This cache is not in the rail corridor.  Do not enter the rail corridor.  If you get killed by a train the police would tape off the area and this would inconvenience other geocachers :)   The cache can be seen, but cannot be reached from the ground but unless you are very short you can use the convenient construction decisions to boost yourself to within arms reach.  Do not however be tempted to climb onto the rail bridge or its supports etc etc - if you take more than one step upwards you have gone too far.

Cache is micro and contains only a logbook.  BYO writing implement.  Please replace exactly as found - orientation is important.

Please ignore the hint at the top of the log.  This cache was originally named SAPS #2 and was part of a series which involved hints.  This information is no longer relevant and can be ignored.

*** FTF honours go to bruzie,TwigNZ and the Seagnoid less than 60 minutes from publishing ***  Difficulty increased to 2 under advisement.

There have been a lot of log entries suggesting the T or D rating should be higher.  T is set to 1.5 or "The hike is less than 0.5 mile (0.8 km). Most likely flat but may not be wheelchair accessible."  which perfectly describes access to the cache.  The description clearly states that the cache is not accessible from the ground so if having to "leg up" onto a structure is going to make you grumpy don't bother with this cache.  It's also not advised for unaccompanied children who would indeed struggle to reach it; however a not too heavy child could also be lifted to get it which would give them a thrill too.  D is set to 2 or "Relatively easy to find or solve within 30 minutes."  Whilst some have struggled with this cache, others have found it an easy find.  If you read the description and follow your GPS I can't imagine you'd still be looking half an hour later.   If you still think T or D need revising, please give the reasoning in your log entry and I will consider it :D
