かつてここにはワイルドブルーヨコハマという大型屋内温水プール施設がありました。
某大手鉄鋼メーカーの野球場跡地に、1992年に開業しましたが開業後にバブル崩壊で景気が低迷したことに加え、駅から離れた位置にあったことから客の入りは悪く入場者数はピークでも年間80万程度に留まり、目標の100万人は閉鎖するまで一度も達成できませんでした。
ワイルドブルーヨコハマの閉鎖は、入場者数の不足や時代の変化など様々な要因が絡み合い、結果的に施設の存続が困難となりました。バブル期のアミューズメント施設の終焉を象徴する出来事として多くの人々の心に残る施設となりました。
