Geocache Description:

Sand pine

(Pinus clausa) is a small, evergreen coniferous tree that is native to the Southeastern United States. It can grow up to 69 ft tall, but often stays shrubby. Sand pine can be gnarled, leaning, or stunted. Sand pine is classified as fire-resistant because it regenerates profusely through seeds after fire

Did you know?

  • Pine resin is antimicrobial, and just as it heals wounds on the bark of the tree, it can also help us heal minor cuts and abrasions.
  • You can make tea out of the pine needles, it could help reduce fevers and soothe coughs and colds.
  • Pine pollen has numerous vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Some websites suggest amazing healing properties but do your own research. You can actually buy pine pollen, it's very expensive. Surprisingly, it's tolerated even by people allergic to pollen.
