Solar Eclipse 2017-NASA.gov
A total solar eclipse will be visible crossing North America passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada on 8 April 2024.
New York is in the path of the Total Solar Eclipse but here on Long Island, we will experience an 88% partial eclipse. You need to travel near Buffalo or Syracuse to experience a Total Solar Eclipse this year. It will still be a stunning event to remember.
The next total eclipse to cross the continental US will not be until Aug. 12, 2045!
Come prepared with your own purchased or homemade protective glasses. Viewing any part of the bright Sun through a camera lens, binoculars, or a telescope without a special-purpose solar filter secured over the front of the optics will instantly cause severe eye injury. Eclipse glasses are NOT regular sunglasses; regular sunglasses, no matter how dark, are not safe for viewing the Sun.
Event Location Updated: Jones Beach Energy & Nature Center
Plenty of Parking-No Program Fee or Parking Fee
Event Time: 1:00 pm Program at the Energy & Nature Center
