Virtual Rewards 4.0 - 2024-2025

Virtual cache is about finding a location and meeting the logging tasks, there is no container.

It is not necessary to visit the posted coordinates, but you can see the archaeological site of the Palace Galatas there.

The Minoan Civilization thrived on Crete during the Middle Bronze Age (c. 2000 - c. 1450 BC), leaving a lasting impact on Western European civilization through their distinctive art, architecture, and cultural influence across the Aegean region.

Four principal palace sites, comprising Knossos, Phaistos, Malia, and Zakros, served as hubs for administration, trade, religion, and potentially politics. While the exact power structure within these palaces remains unclear, they controlled local resources and exerted influence over surrounding settlements connected by roads. Initially independent, the palaces later came under the dominance of Knossos around 1700 BC.

The palaces went through two periods of construction, with the first built around 2000 BC and the second rebuilt after destructive events around 1700 BC. These monumental structures featured grand courtyards, colonnades, religious crypts, drainage systems, and storage facilities, contributing to the civilization's prosperity until their eventual destruction between 1500 BC and 1450 BC, likely due to earthquakes, fires, or invasion.

Logging task

Take a picture of yourself or a personal item at ALL FOUR archaeological sites, namely Knossos, Phaistos, Malia and Zakros (patterns pictured below). The pictures in the listing are taken in front of entrances to the sites. Therefore, there is no need to enter the paid parts of the sites. But, if you have a photo of yourself or a photo of a personal item from the paid area that can identify which of the four locations it is, that is also acceptable. Anyway, if you haven't visited these excavations yet, consider it.

Add all requested photos to your “Found it” log. The cache owner is responsible for deleting logs that seem false or inappropriate.

Knossos Phaistos

Malia Zakros
