The Grand River (Fairport Harbor) Light is located in the village of Fairport Harbor, Ohio. The lighthouse was built in 1871 and has a 60-foot tower with a detached keeper's house. The light was decommissioned in 1925, replaced by the Fairport Harbor West Breakwater Light. This was the first actual lighthouse I ever saw, at the age of 10. It has a storied history, a marine museum, and a ghost cat. Fairport has been part of my life since then, because of this, their annual Mardi Gras celebration in July, and because of their Senior Center (which is my home away from home).
