THIS VIRTUAL HAS A PHOTO REQUIREMENT. PLEASE READ THE CACHE PAGE CAREFULLY. LOGS WITHOUT PHOTOS WILL BE DELETED.
Hundreds of thousands of people come to view the Christ of the Ozarks statue each year. This statue, striking a pose similar to the Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil, is the largest in the USA. It is 67 feet tall, with arms 65 feet wide, and stands at an altitude of 1,500 feet. It is lighted at night and can be seen for miles as it overlooks the picturesque Victorian village of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The late Emmet Sullivan, who was an apprentice to one of the sculptors of the Mount Rushmore monument, sculpted this majestic statue. It was completed and dedicated in 1966. The statue is available to the public without charge, 365 days a year from sunrise until an hour after sunset, with free parking available nearby (see additional waypoint).
You may claim this virtual in one of three ways:
1) Stand AT THE POSTED COORDINATES and have a photo taken of yourself with ARMS OUTSTRETCHED (just like the statue) with Christ of the Ozarks in the background. Post the photo with your log. There is no need to send your photo directly to me. The photo added to your log is proof you were at the location.
2) Don't want your face in the photo? No problem. Turn to face the statue AT THE POSTED COORDINATES and have a photo taken of your back with your ARMS OUTSTRETCHED. Be sure to include the statue in your photo and post it with your log as proof you were there.
3) Are you alone for this virtual? Again, not a problem. Stretch out only one arm AT THE POSTED COORDINATES and take a selfie photo that includes your arm and the statue (with or without your face showing). Post the photo with your log.
THANK YOU FOR VISITING
