Welcome to the Cass Street and Cameron Street bridges - commonly known as the "Big Blue Bridges." Visible from a wide array of places all over the city, the bridges are an icon of LaCrosse.
The Cass Street Bridge, which is a cantilever through truss bridge, was originally opened in 1940. The Cameron Street Bridge, with it's 87-foot tall arch, was opened in 2004. Together, the truss and arch make for a distinctively unique sillouette.
TO CLAIM YOUR FIND:
Simply post a photo of yourself or a personal item with the bridges clearly visible in the background. This can include (but is not limited to) your GPS, a stuffed animal mascot, or even a piece of paper with your geocaching name on it. You do not need to be on the bridge at the posted coordinates, as there are plenty of public places nearby for good photo opportunities - like Pettibone Park, Riverside Park, Houska Park, the Jay St. Pier, etc.
If you prefer, you can walk to the posted coordinates on the bridge, using the stairway access near Pettibone Beach or Front/Cross St. (see additional waypoints). DO NOT STOP YOUR VEHICLE ON THE BRIDGE.
