I love hiking with fellow cachers! The adventure, the conversation, the... rattlesnakes...
Unfortunately, living in Indy limits our access to long-distance hikes unless we are able to travel an hour or so down to Brown County or Hoosier National Forest. BUT the greater Indy area is filled with dozens of small- and medium-sized parks that boast miles of trails stretching all across the city and its environs, many of which are dotted with geocaches! I propose we get outside and enjoy them (especially now while the bugs and the weeds are in retreat)! Will you join me?
The last time I hosted an urban hike, it dawned on me that I could just as easily have the meet & greet portion be a CITO. Let's do some good for a local nature preserve! We'll meet at 1:00 p.m. at the posted parking coordinates and pick up trash for about an hour, with the goal of cleaning up the area along the trail from the parking lot down to Eagle Creek. I'll bring buckets and bags to collect the trash and a truck to haul it all away. I recommend you bring good boots, plenty of water, and gloves, although I'll bring some extra just in case folks need them.
Afterward (at 2 p.m.), I'll be heading west into the woods to enjoy the trail system and see if I can locate any of the newer caches that have been placed in that direction. Anyone who comes along is welcome to join in the fun!
