 Sainte Terre est la « capitale » de la lamproie.

Au retour de la Première croisade (1096-1099), de la terre rapportée de Palestine fut répandue au point le plus haut du village. L'église, appelée alors Sancta Terra, y fut construite au xie siècle. C'est elle qui donna son nom au village.
