The name speedwell is used for several species of flower in the genus Veronica. The common field speedwell, Veronica persica is a species commonly found in the UK, though it can be difficult to distinguish it from other species. It is native to Eurasia but was introduced to the UK and is now widespread. It has blue flowers which have darker stripes leading to the centre.
