Geocache Description:

28 February 2024, 09:30 - 12:30

TREE CARE IN THE COMMUNITY WOODLAND AT HORSBERE RESERVE

Parking: Suggested parking is in the car park at the provided coords, there is a footbridge to take you over to Horsbere Brook Reserve. Or if there is space you can park by the gates leading in to the Reserve (Parking area / Meet-up point).

Where: Meet by the main gates at 09:30 or after that time find us working in the Community Woodland (main coordinates). See waypoint for kissing gate access from the main track, then follow the path up until you spot us.

WhatTrees in the Community Woodland were planted from 2015 and many are now mature enough to grow without stakes. This morning we will be removing old stakes, checking deer guards, replacing ties where necessary and generally checking that the trees have the best conditions to continue growing healthily.

How: The Countryside Ranger will be there providing guidance and tools. Please bring work gloves if possible and if you wish to use your own tools (hammer, shears) please do bring them along. Don't worry if you don't have tools as the Ranger will have a supply.

Health and Safety: The CITO session will be covered by Council insurance as long as you are working under the Countryside Ranger's instruction.

Please bring a drink/snack for breaktime. Homemade cake will be provided. 🙂
