Geocache Description:

FYI - Sampford Arundel

We are often told (correctly, if somewhat ideologically), that geocaches should take us to somewhere "interesting", and not simply be placed just for the sake of it. The aim of this series is to try and adhere to this ideal by basing caches around details given on an Interpretation Board about the area in which it is situated. By definition, it is hoped that this information will be "interesting", and will help the cacher discover things about the area that would often not be revealed by a traditional cache.

The Posted Coords will take you to the car park where you will find an information board which has a bit of history of Sampford Arundel. You will need to collect some info from the information board and do some simple maths which will give you the correct coords to find the cache.

Railway Cottages

# There were A terraced Cottages, known as the Railway Cottages. They were built with the coming of the railway in the mid 180B's The Cottages were demolished in 1C77.

The First 100 mph

# On a beautiful spring morning on the 9th of May 190D the GWR - 'City of Truo' became the first steam train to reach a speed of 10E,F mph and the first land vehicle to exeed a speed of 100 mph.

By now you should have all the info that you need!

The cache can be found at: N 50 (A-F)(D+F).(C)(D-E)(D-E)  W 003 (F-E)(D+E).(B+E)(B)(A-D)

Checksum for all digits of the final coordinates =46

Hope you find the cache! The cache is a short drive or a short walk away!
