Geocache Description:

This park, between Tracyton Boulevard and Dye's Inlet, offers beach access and Olympic Mountain views, as well as the WSU Extension Master Gardener Demonstration Garden.  I hope you have time to look around!

The fun of leaving messages in secret hiding places goes back in history, long before geocaching. Walking directions were shared and conspirators would leave notes for each other.  Enthusiasts have taken this idea further by sharing locations and collecting their finds. Like geocaching, special logbooks and stamps are part of the activity and proof of the find. Letterboxers carry their own logbooks and personalized stamps. They mark their find with the stamp provided in the cache and leave their own marks in the cache log.

In this spirit, here are the written Letterbox walking directions:

From the posted coordinates at the "J.A. & Anna F. Smith Children's Garden" sign, head west down the 14 stairs. then along the trail through the woods and over the marsh. Walk all the way to the scenic T, then turn right. Head north along the pavement past the restroom (closed OCT 1-MAR 31) to the switchback. Carefully navigate the steep path to the end of the pavement. The letterbox is hidden under the southeast corner of the viewing platform.

For geocachers, use the posted coordinates for a waypoint projection calculation. From the posted coordinates at the sign, calculate 364 feet at a bearing of 304 degrees for the approximate final cache location. Use the obvious paths to navigate to this spot.

Try to resist the FTF or February logging, IF you will be needing to find this one after work on Leap Day!
