The Dark Forest theory made for a gripping storyline but never really made much sense. This area of Huangpu District dotted with huge high-tech companies from multiple countries with seemingly opposing goals ends up feeling much more like a Peaceful Meadow.
The Wuchong blueway, a physical embodiment of peaceful progress and coexistence (except when it comes to the Guangyuan Expressway), beckons to the south, passing through areas of truck parking, farmland, urban villages possibly awaiting demolition, newly built roads and metro stations, more urban farmland and meadows, and finally the barrier of the Guangyuan Expressway, which as of January 2024 the blueway has not yet found a way to traverse. It's a picturesque trail leading - eventually - all the way to Dashadi about 6km to the south.
Huangpu District is one of the wealthiest districts in China, partly due to the cluster of huge high technology companies including company headquarters. Across the road from the cache is the massive Kingfa Science and Technology complex. Kingfa Science & Technology Co., Ltd., founded in 1993 in a small office in Huangpu, is a high-tech listed company mainly engaged in the research and development, production and sales of high-performance modified plastics. With a registered capital of 2,634.4 million yuan, the company now has five subsidiaries, including Shanghai Kingfa Technology Development Co., Ltd., Tianjin Kingfa New Materials Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Kingfa New Materials Co., Ltd., Mianyang Changxin New Materials Development Co., Ltd., and Mianyang Oriental Special Engineering Plastics Co., Ltd.
Clustered alongside Kingfa is the South China New Materials Innovation Park (华南新材料创新园) owned by the Guangzhou-headquartered Gaojin Fuheng Group. This Innovation Park, with an idyllic layout with interior lakes and parklands and stated goal of 'integrating perfectly with the urban environment' (paraphrasing from their website) is worth a visit if the reality lives up to the rhetoric.
