Marlin Statue
Sabah’s roundabouts are known for their unique sculptures, and the iconic Marlin statue is easily the star of the city. Standing proudly by the waterfront with Gaya Island in the background, this swordfish landmark is a favourite stop for locals, travellers, and geocachers on the hunt.
Come at sunset for the real magic: the sky lights up in warm colours, the sea glows, and the Marlin becomes one of the most photogenic spots in Kota Kinabalu. Unveiled on 2 February 2000 to celebrate KK’s new city status, it’s now a must-visit waypoint for any caching adventure in the area.
